The Lungs

Harmful chemicals in tobacco products and cigarette smoke are capable of doing a lot of damage to your lungs. In addition to the diseases we will discuss in this section, smoking causes you to get out of breath easily. You will not be able to run as far or as long as someone who does not smoke. You may find that it takes you a long time to get over a cold or a sore throat. You might cough more than your friends who don’t smoke. Is it worth it? Read on to find out about four major problems or diseases that tobacco use can cause in the lungs: chronic coughing, asthma, emphysema, and lung cancer.
