Larynx Cancer

Scientists have found that cancer of the larynx (voice box) is linked to smoking. This type of cancer forms over time when the delicate tissues of the throat are attacked by smoke and chemicals found in tobacco. Twice as many men as women develop cancer of the larynx, and the risk in men is greatest in those over the age of 40. Treatment for this type of cancer is usually surgery to remove the voice box.
