Esophagus

People who smoke cigarettes, pipes, and cigars, and those who use chew or snuff, are all at risk of getting cancer of the esophagus (throat area). Eighty percent of all cases of cancer of the esophagus happen in people who smoke. The cancer is caused by contact of the soft lining of the esophagus with smoke and other chemicals found in tobacco products.
