How does tobacco affect the economy?

Economics is a science. It deals with how products are made, exchanged, and used. People produce products. Other people consume these products. So how do people get products from those who produce them? Sometimes they exchange other products for them. Other times they pay money for them.

Tobacco is a product that many people purchase. The tobacco industry plays a big role in America'seconomy. If people use tobacco their whole life, they havea good chance of becoming sick in several different ways. This sickness directly affects the economy because doctors, hospitals, and medicine all cost money. Some people argue that tobacco is still good for the overall economy. Others argue tobacco hurts the economy.
